About Me

I currently serve as an Associate Professor at Kansas State University in the College of Education, supporting our masters programs in College Student Development and Academic Advising, and our doctoral programs in Student Affairs in Higher Education and Leadership in Academic Advising.  I also have the privilege of serving as the Chair of K-State's Institutional Review Board and as Coeditor of NACADA Journal.

My focus is Student Services in Intercollegiate Athletics.  However, I have a background in a variety of student affairs areas.  I began my career as a student worker in the Admissions Office at The University of Texas at Austin, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising magna cum laude and a Master of Education in Kinesiology-Sport Management.  Then I became an honorary Cornhusker, working as an Assistant Academic/Life Skills Counselor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's athletic department.

After two years, I moved to the desert where I served as an Athletic Academic Advisor and Life Skills Coordinator at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).  At UNLV, I also was a GA in Student Conduct and Student Organizations & Involvement before becoming the Coordinator of Career Services for the #1 ranked William F. Harrah College of Hospitality.

I also taught first-year experience courses, College and Career Success at Nevada State College (4 years), Academic and Life Success at the College of Southern Nevada, and First-Year Seminar: Exploring Majors at UNLV.  I earned my Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Leadership from UNLV in 2012.  I joined the K-State faculty in 2014.
